Settings & Configuration Profiles

Purpose

The Settings module manages the rule configurations, parameter tolerances, and asset metadata applied across your projects. Different projects, clients, and building typologies enforce different statutory rules; an acute hospital demands HBN/HTM clinical space and fire door standards, whereas a high-speed rail viaduct requires kinematic gauge and 25kV OLE clearances.

BIM Checker uses a Scoped Configuration Architecture that allows organizations to define reusable statutory profiles, share them across enterprise teams, and override specific numerical thresholds without code changes.

Multi-Tenant Scopes

Public (System Presets: UK Healthcare, High Speed Rail)

Domain Scope (Enterprise-wide: @organization.com)

iTwin Scope (Project-specific: Bound to iTwin ID)

Configuration Scopes

Every configuration profile in BIM Checker is governed by a strict multi-tenant scope:

  1. Public Scope (public: true):
    • Universal statutory baseline profiles provided out-of-the-box (e.g. Hospital, HS2 High Speed Rail, Highways BD 37/01).
    • Available to all authenticated users across all projects.
  2. Domain Scope (scope.domain):
    • Organization-wide configurations visible exclusively to users belonging to your corporate domain (e.g. @candcconsulting.co.uk or @nhs.net).
    • Ensures proprietary design guidelines and corporate QA policies are automatically accessible across all corporate projects.
  3. iTwin Scope (scope.iTwin):
    • Project-isolated configurations bound directly to specific Bentley iTwin project containers.
    • Ideal for client-mandated Project Information Requirements (PIR) and Exchange Information Requirements (EIR).
